“Creativity is the power to connect the seemingly unconnected.” William Plomer (African born English Writer, 1903-1973)
'The power to connect the seemingly unconnected'. It would seem to appear that many twenty first century business and arts stakeholders have yet to realise this connection. Why would I say this with such evidence of amazing feats of creativity in I.T. or product development etc. While we do have incredible creative talent abound we are economically and socially smothering due to a profound lack of creative talent in key essential areas. Politics, Education, Enterprise development and in the area of promoting an awareness of the true nature of creative ability as the core competence at the very heart of human potential for excellence in any field. The emergence of a business idea, problem solving or the natural intuition that accurately predicts/foresees upcoming opportunities or potential problems are all reliant on the creative abilities of dynamic minds. Twenty first century thinking has misdiagnosed intelligence as knowing lots, getting A's and having impressively framed certs on the office wall. We now know to our national cost that well educated and 'qualified' people can get it wrong - in a big way, and have done so globally. Why, what is missing, is there something missing? | ENTER STAGE RIGHT; This is where the arts enter the picture, long before human potential and ability produced cars or computers the true level of creative ability was well demonstrated in buildings and art going back several thousand years. Creative and artistic ability revealed a long time ago that humans have significant potential. The technology around us today may be impressive but just consider for a moment that in human potential terms this is probably just a kindergarten phase compared to what may be possible. Could the next leap in human evolution be a leap in awareness of our true potential. Think of the advanced technology of warfare but the human act of war itself is prehistoric / backward in evolutionary development terms. All the main players in the global economic and political meltdown are modern educated people, could it be that it is these mindsets that are facing sudden extinction, wiped out by conditions for which many are too inflexible to adapt and change for a new climate of mutual respect and equality, a climate that values sustainability. The higher level creative talent required to resolve all of the issues facing society currently exists, the capacity to solve major problems is available. The other 80% of untapped human potential is available right now. the art and science of creativity can tell us all we need to know about understanding human potential and implementing sustainable systems and practices in politics, education, business, just about anything we wish to apply creative science and principles to. Why? because it works. |
